The Leucocytapheresis therapy removes activated leucocytes using a sorbent column that works directly on the blood.

The cartridge at the heart of the system, made of hydrophilic polysulfone, adsorbs leucocytes, both neutrophils and lymphocytes or monocytes, as well as a part of the platelets from the circulating blood, thus succeeding in combating inflammatory diseases. Among the diseases that can benefit from this therapy are chronic autoimmune intestinal diseases, such as ulcerous rectocolitis or Crohn’s disease, but may also be indicated for other diseases that have the same inflammatory substrate in common, such as rheumatoid arthritis.

The technique strives to induce and maintain the disease in remission and to alleviate the patient’s symptoms by reducing the inflammation.
