TRANSPLANT: TO GIVE MORE CHANCE TO LIFE
The shortage of suitable organs for transplantation meets an ever higher demand. The consequence is that waiting lists are getting longer.
On one hand, there is the need to ensure the use of every organ, even the marginal ones, compromised by complex biological reactions and processes characterizing organ retrieval and storage, on the other, the outcome of the transplantation must be improved.
Aferetica wants to contribute to a concrete change in the suitability of transplantable organs and in the transplantation outcome, through:
- The evolution of In Situ reconditioning: combining apheresis purification systems and ECMO assistance for organ perfusion, during organ retrieval from NHBD.
- The development of complete systems for Ex Vivo organ reconditioning, with biocompatible liquids, transport and maintenance modules, integrating perfusion and purification.
- Apheresis therapies dedicated to the patient, helping to cope with the inflammatory processes and the immune complications.
