The ECaBox project started. It is a European initiative to develop an ‘Eye in a Care Box’ (EcaBox) capable of regenerating human donor eyes, while supporting the ex-vivo ocular function and structure for an extended period of time.

ECaBox is designed to increase the number of organs available by improving their quality before transplantation thanks to the use of stem cells.

For the realisation of this project, Aferetica will be involved in an interdisciplinary collaboration with six international partners: Centre for Genomic Regulation – project coordinator -, Universitat de Barcelona, Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia, Bar-Ilan University, A4TEC, King’s College London.
